Relocating to The Conservatory® at Ginn Hammock Beach™ Resort in Palm Coast, FL, the Ginn sur Mer Classic™ returned to the PGA TOUR Fall Series for 2008.
This year weather was one of the biggest factors - with rain causing significant delays in the final round and creating difficult course conditions - as some of the PGA TOUR's best fought for a win, and a place on the money list to guarantee their exemption for the next year.
A six way tie appeared to be in the works as the final group approached the 18th tee. A ten foot birdie putt on 18 by Ryan Palmer (67-71-72-71) - who had started strong but faltered on the back nine - put him into first place. The inability of anyone in the last group to catch him - including Michael Letzig (65-74-70-73) who had held the lead after Saturday - eliminated the need for sudden death.
This was Palmer's first PGA TOUR win since 2004, and will no doubt be remembered as one of the Fall Series' most exciting finishes this season.
