3/9/2008 - Few names evoke the sound of Motown like Smokey Robinson. The legendary singer and songwriter helped us celebrate the opening of the Conservatory Clubhouse this March by taking the audience on a musical journey through not only his hits, but great songs he wrote for other Motown legends, and even standards from legends like Sinatra.
It was a night of amazing music, fitting of its grand setting in the shadow of the ornate Conservatory Clubhouse. Smokey (or Smoke, as he mentioned Stevie Wonder calls him) spent the evening interacting with the audience, telling stories of the glory days of Motown as well as sharing his thoughts on topics from songwriting to golf.
It truly was a splendid time for all.
